Message from the Principal

Bob Quinones, Principal

April is upon us and Spring has sprung. Towards the end of last month, all of our students, staff, and families had the opportunity to get some well-deserved rest and relaxation over Spring Break. We are thrilled that everyone is back and ready to finish the year strong!

In the coming days, our 3rd5th grade students will begin their respective grade level AzMERIT state assessments. While most assessments will be paper-based this year, we will have one assessment (AIMS Science) delivered to our 4th graders in computer format. These tests are simply a great opportunity for our students to demonstrate all that they have learned throughout the year. At the conclusion of testing, we will hold a celebratory Pep Assembly to recognize our students and their hard work.

In addition to testing, we have several other fun activities planned throughout the month. We will host a school-wide assembly to promote the summer reading program at the city library. The positive partnership only hopes to promote a love of reading because we know that readers are leaders. On April 20, we will host our annual PTO Bingo Night, which is always a family and community favorite. Please stay tuned for more information as we work to connect with families again to help us make this event a repeat success. Lastly, don’t forget to join us for one of our last Brown Bag Lunch days on April 26. The positive turnout and family support is what makes our school such a great place!

As most of you know, we have been focusing on social-emotional learning this year with the 7 Mindsets program. In an effort to connect with others, we will be hosting a 7 Mindsets Open House on April 27 for educators within our state and community to showcase the program and the positive benefits that have become apparent for our students and staff. If you want to know how you can get involved in this effort, please feel free to contact me at the school. Our mindset for this month is THE TIME IS NOW. As we get closer to closing out the school year, we will remind students that it is never too late to take the next steps towards success.

April 25 is Administrative Professionals Day. If you have time to swing by the office, feel free to join our celebration as we recognize and thank our Ms. Rorri and Ms. Mona for all that they do.

If you wanted more brief and regular updates, don’t forget to sign up for our e-alerts and follow us on Twitter @McCartneyRanch. Thanks for all of your continued support! Have a great month.
