Message from the Principal

Bob Quinones, Principal A Message from the Principal ...

Thanks to all of you for making the start of the year so successful. It is great to see all the new Mustangs fit right in to our daily routines of learning and excitement; and since we don’t have an empty classroom in the building, we have a lot of learning and excitement going on! As a matter of fact, our enrollment numbers have increased and we are at (or above) capacity in all classrooms. This growth, which expanded from last year confirms that we are all in a great place. We are very aware that so much of our success comes from the partnerships that we have from our supportive and positive families, guests, and staff. Thanks for all that you do to be a part of our school.

As our school year continues to move along, we encourage you to be looking out for a few things that will help us communicate and interact with all families. Each month, we will be sending home The Mustang Messenger, which will allow us to inform you of all the exciting things that are happening in classrooms and around campus. This will also list important dates and upcoming events. You can also expect a weekly e-alert via email. This is a communication from me to all of our families about school events, news, and opportunities. If you are not registered, please visit the school website or stop in the front office and we would be happy to get you set up. Another great way to connect with our school is my attending PTO Meetings, which will be held each month. We welcome all willing participants to share their time and ideas. In addition, we will be hosting our regular Brown Bag Lunch and Holiday Meal events throughout the year.

While the temperatures begin to cool (hopefully), our schedule of learning and activities is really heating up. We have our Grandparents Luncheon and our annual Hooray for Heroes events on September 8th and 11th respectively. These are both fun annual events where we look forward to celebrating with various guests.

As a reminder to all, we have our District In-service day on September 22rd. While students will not be in classes, teachers will be working through professional development and collaboration. This training and planning time is an essential component of the instructional process to ensure that lessons are adequately prepared to meet the demands of all students. We will also continue to explore our new curriculum, which we have been excited to fully implement this year.

Again this year we will be working to create and grow healthy minds and bodies at McCartney Ranch. One way we can support one another (and our students) is to send the message about healthy eating. This year, we continue to ask that any classroom snacks (including birthday and other party treats) be healthy and nutritionally beneficial. Some ideas might include fresh fruit or vegetables, baked chips, trail mix, granola bars or dried fruit snacks. Thanks for supporting our students and our efforts to create healthy minds and bodies.

This year, we will continue our focus on social and community growth. As many of you know, we refer to ourselves as a “Mustang Family” and we want to support one another in that manner. Each day we will be working towards our mission, “Success through inspiration, connection, and opportunity.” We will expand upon last year’s Morning Meetings with our 7 Mindsets program. This is a great resource and curriculum that will help us support our students and staff as individuals and as a community. I would encourage each of you to talk with your children about how they are connecting with classmates, staff, and even academic content during these meetings. Please also stay tuned for informational meetings where we will invite parents and families to participate in activities and conversations related to the 7 Mindsets. We are certain that the implementation of this program will create a common language with our students and provide tremendous growth opportunities.

Thanks for all of your support. It a pleasure to work with your children and have you all as partners in their education.

Bob Quinones, Principal
