McCartney Families,

It looks like we will enjoy a few more days of cool weather before it really heats up. Speaking of heating up, we are heating up with year-end activities, and we have several more fun events planned for this week.

  • On Tuesday, our 2nd graders will attend a field trip to the Arizona Science Center.
  • Our 5th graders will visit their respective middle schools on Wednesday for tours and orientation.
  • Wednesday is also Nurse’s Day so feel free to share your appreciation with our Health Office staff, especially if they have supported you and your child throughout the year.
  • Thursday is busy with our last Brown Bag Lunch and PTO  Meeting. We also have our Volunteer Tea scheduled for the afternoon so that we can thank all of those that have generously given of their time, talents, and treasures throughout the school year.
  • On Friday, we have Ms. McFarlane’s class attending a trip to Reid Park Zoo. We also have our 5th grade band concert for students and guests.

Please don’t forget that your Harkins Summer Fun Passes can be picked up from the front office this week. Any items not claimed by Friday will be sent home with students.

Lastly, I want to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all the mothers out there. This Sunday is Mother’s Day. I truly appreciate and respect the role that each mother plays in the lives of their children. Without moms, we don’t have kids to positively impact in our school setting. Whether you are involved at school or at home, I appreciate what you do to raise and support your children. If you are a mother that is reading this…THANK YOU! If you are reading this but are not a mother, please thank your mother and the mothers of our students.

Have a great week!
