Solar Eclipse

Mustang Families –

We have an exciting event, the Solar Eclipse, that will take place across the U.S. on Monday, August 21. In our area of Arizona, the partial eclipse will be visible from approximately 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.

As many of you know, viewing this eclipse can be done safely when certain precautions are taken. If your child will be experiencing a safe viewing with their classes, you will be informed via permission slips. Only with this signed consent will your child be allowed to participate. In some instances, other classes will be viewing the eclipse in their classrooms through safe photographs and with the help of appropriate news and social media supports.

Unfortunately, we do not have safe viewing glasses for all students and therefore will be hosting indoor recess activities throughout the lunch hour to help protect against a negative experience and potential eye damage.

This event is a tremendous learning opportunity for our students that we want them to experience safely. We will provide the necessary caution as well as the hearty conversation. In addition, I would encourage you to spend some time exploring this scientific marvel with your children during your home conversations and activity time.

Please see me with questions or concerns.
