Mustang Families,

Welcome back from what I hope was a restful Fall Break. Thanks to all the families that made it a priority to join us for Parent/Teacher Conferences before break. These conversations are so valuable and we truly appreciate your partnership in this ongoing educational journey.

We are excited to be moving into our second quarter of the school year with so many great things planned. In particular this week, we have a Leader Lunch on Tuesday, an Author Assembly and Writer's Workshop on Thursday, and Music at the Mall on Saturday. With all of that, we also have a "spooktacular" Mustang Activity Day planned for Tuesday. Since it is Halloween, we will be engaging in themed extracurricular and academic activities rather than large class parties. As in the past, we will not be wearing Halloween costumes to school but encourage you to participate in your family Halloween traditions after school if that is what you choose to do. Just remember to be safe!

This week is also our final week of the 100% ACCOUNTABLE Monthly Mindset. On Monday, students will hear a message entitled "Grow Through Life" which encourages them to realize that life is a process that give us opportunities to choose to learn from good and bad experiences. Sometimes it can be tough to learn from the good things because we tend to think that we did everything right. In addition, it can be tough to overcome the bad things if we don't have enough grit. Having grit and resilience is one major indicator of future success. As a family, I would encourage you to spend some time talking about what you have all learned through good and bad experiences. This gives you a talking point to keep your family connection strong while staying connected to school as well.

Have a great week and a smooth transition into November...watch out for pumpkin spice everything!!! :-)
