Attention Mustang Families!

We have a short but busy week ahead of us. In particular, we have several on-campus events that you should be aware of. On Monday, we have the Lions Club here to do vision screenings on our students. Due to the size of our school, they will return in late November to complete all screenings. On Tuesday, we have our quarterly Awards Assemblies at 9:30 and 10:45. Wednesday is an Early Release Day. All students will be let out at 12:45. Thursday we have our monthly PTO Meeting in the Media Center at 3:30. We hope you can join us to learn how you can get involved. Also, don't forget that we don't have school on Friday due to Veterans Day. Enjoy the long weekend ahead. Finally, as I mentioned in the last e-alert, this week is Spirit Week. Please check with your child or our front office regarding the theme for each day.

This week is the start of our new Mindset, ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE. This will provide us with a great framework for conversations as we head into the Holiday Season. In fact, we will extend this mindset through all of November and December. I am especially excited to report that during some morning classroom visits, I was able to see many students were already diving into our new mindset through lessons, projects, conversations, and actions.

In a time where the news and media can be riddled with negativity, especially recently, it is important to spread some cheer and positivity. Think about how you feel when someone simply says, "thank you." Think about how you felt when someone did something for you that made you want to say "thanks!" The feelings associated with the actions and words of gratitude are what we need, maybe more than ever. This morning on announcements, students were guided to focus on positivity and the things that have so there was no time to be distracted by negativity and the things they don't have. I would encourage you and your families to do the same. What do you have? What are you grateful for? Who can you tell about it? Maybe you can even use social media to tell the world about the good things that give you that great feeling of gratitude.

I know I am grateful for the opportunity I have each day to be a part of the dynamic team at McCartney Ranch. I appreciate the trust you all have in our team and the wonderful colleagues that support our students each day. I cherish the partnerships we have with families and get excited about the possibilities that I see in the future for each student. Thank you for being part of our journey...part of our team.

Have a great (and grateful) week!
