Mustang Families!

Can you believe that this is the last Monday message of 2017? Wow, what a year it has already been! As this week comes to a close, I get to reflect on the end of the calendar year and the end of our second quarter. The halfway point is often a great milestone in any journey. It is that point where people decide to push forward or turn around. Once you take one step closer to the finish line, it is senseless to turn back because you are closer to the end than you are to the beginning. Are you ready to take that step forward? I am excited to be taking it with each one of our students and staff members.

Every time I hear “halfway,” I am also reminded of that fateful glass…is it half full or half empty? Some of you know that I have a book on my desk called The Optimist’s Handbook. The cover has a picture of that glass. What you might not know is that if I flip the book upside-down, the back cover provides an additional book called The Pessimist’s Handbook.  This book was a gift that I am truly grateful for. it is a constant reminder for me. I have chosen to keep the positive side facing outward for others to see; although it can be challenging, this is how I want to live and how I want to encourage others to live. I am the optimist that sees the glass as half full. I am very much looking forward to filling that glass the rest of the way for the remainder of the year. You are invited to join me with the perspective of optimism and the desire to fill up that glass. Let's continue the journey and together we can take that next step closer to the end.

This week is one of the busier weeks of the year. We have music in the mind with a 1st grade program on Monday, a band concert on Tuesday, a 3rd grade program an Wednesday and our school sing along on Friday. We also have milestone meals planned as I will host our monthly leader lunch on Wednesday and we will also host our Holiday Meal on Thursday. We also have our Attitude of Gratitude Assembly on Thursday afternoon. In addition to these events, our PTO will host the Holiday Shop all week in the STEM Lab. Lastly, don't forget that Friday is an early dismissal day. All staff and students will be released at 12:45.

I have one more fun announcement... McCartney Ranch is now on Twitter! If you are someone that tweets or simply follows others on Twitter, please consider following us @McCartneyRanch. While I am new to this social media platform, I look forward to exploring the nuances and tweeting after the Winter Break. this should be a fun way to stay connected and see some of the great things that happen here each day, including teaching, learning, social events, successes, challenges, and celebrations.

I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks for all that you do.
