Happy New Year to all Mustang Families!

Welcome back to the second half of what is shaping up to be a great school year!

As students return this week, we will get right back into the swing of teaching and learning. Prior to break, our students completed the mid-year benchmark assessments which allowed our teachers to reflect on the first semester and plan for the upcoming months. Students will be exposed to the new instructional content along with any necessary classroom intervention or enrichment based upon these assessment results. We are excited for the opportunities of learning that lie ahead of us.

As we move through the week and you plan your schedules, please remember that Wednesday is scheduled to be an Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed at 12:45 pm. In addition, we do not have school next Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Lastly, if you have outstanding Harkins orders that have not been picked up, please schedule some time to stop by the school office to grab the items that you purchased.

As we kick off the New Year, we will be exploring a new mindset. The mindset, PASSION FIRST, can align very well with the many resolutions that our students, staff, and families might make at the start of a new year. In particular, our students will be hearing a message about "focusing on strengths" when exploring their passion. As individuals, it is important to know what we do well, what others think we do well, and who we are around when we perform our best. As you think about this notion, I would encourage you to consider your own strengths. What do you do well? Who encourages you or inspires you to do your best? Have you told your children what you believe their strengths are? How are you helping to foster growth in accordance with those abilities? Life can become even more fulfilling when you help others find their passion and support their growth and achievement relative to their abilities.

If you are not already doing it, don't forget to follow us on Twitter @McCartneyRanch as we explore our opportunities for connection through social media. I am excited to be able to share more "day to day" stuff that happens around our campus. I see so many great things from students and staff that I know others would love to see as well.
