Mustang Families,

I hope that you all had a restful 3-day weekend. Given the fact that we were off for Martin Luther Kind Day, I would encourage you to talk to your child about what that means. While we have had conversations here at school, we know that learning can be strengthened with the partnerships that exist in the home.

In particular, you can connect the observance of this day to our monthly mindset. We are in the midst of Passion First. This is a mindset that encourages students to focus on strengths, explore your interests, make a stand, and be authentic. Without question, we know that Dr. Martin Luther King embodied these traits and ideas well before our students were around. His legacy is just one example of growth, achievement, and progress when an individual puts his or her efforts into living with the passion at the forefront of their life. With that in mind, ask your child(ren) and yourself what type of legacy you want to leave behind. What is your passion and how can it positively impact others around you?

Don't forget that we have our second quarter Awards Assemblies scheduled for Tuesday at 12:30 (grades 1-3) and 1:30 (grades 4-5). We love to celebrate students success and hope that you can join us for this exciting event.

Have a great week! Don't forget to follow us on Twitter @McCartneyRanch. We are sending out school related tweets each day!
