This week is National School Choice Week. We are truly humbled and honored that you choose to be a part or our Mustang Family. Without each of you being a part of our school, we would not be able to do the things that positively impact the lives of our students. Thanks for your trust and confidence.

We have a busy week ahead of us with some exciting events. Please take note of the activities to be sure that all items relevant to your child or family are added to your personal calendars. On Tuesday our 5th graders are going to JA BizTown to participate in activities related to finance, civics, responsibility, economics, and other life skills. Thanks to our PTO and parent volunteers for making this annual trip happen. Wednesday is our 100th Day of school. Students and staff in attendance will earn a raffle ticket to be entered into a drawing for prizes. Wednesday also happens to be an early dismissal day, so students will be released at 12:45 pm. In addition, we have our PTO Spirit Night at Peter Piper Pizza from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. On Thursday we have our Brown Bag Lunch during the day and our PTO Meeting at 3:30 in the Media Center. Lastly, we have our PTO Family Movie Night at 5:00 on Friday evening.

As most of you know, we are continuing with our 7 Mindsets for this month. We are now focused on PASSION FIRST. In particular, students were encouraged to "make a stand." This  notion encourages students to identify and understand their values. It helps them to realize that they are strongest when acting from their values. This, in turn, helps them to overcome challenges and obstacles in life. As we explore our values (both personally and educationally), we would encourage you to do the same at home. Identifying family values can strengthen your connection and provide your family with opportunities of support. Some say "family first" and we are teaching "passion first"...why not put them together?

As we continue to grow and evolve into the future, we are always looking for the best ways to communicate with families. As many of you know, we are now on Twitter (@McCartneyRanch). In addition, the CGESD is in the process of rolling out a new system that will allow us to better communicate with families. This system - called SchoolMessenger - will allow us to send voicemail, text alerts, and email messages to keep families updated in case of an emergency. This system will also allow families to get attendance alerts for their children. In order to ensure that you receive these alerts, please make sure that the school office has your updated email address, phone number(s), and mailing address.

Many of you know that enrollment for the coming school year starts early. If your child is an in-boundary student and will come back next year, there is nothing that you need to do. If your child is an out-of-boundary student, please keep your eyes and ears tuned in for Open Enrollment forms. We expect them to be available from the district within the next month or so. Also, we will have a Kindergarten Round-Up on February 1st. If you have an incoming kindergarten student, or know someone that does, we will host an Open House type event from 9:00-10:00 am and 5:00-6:00 pm on this date. Please help us spread the word and mark your calendars.

Thanks for reading our updates. Have a great week!
