Mustang Families!

Thanks to everyone that came out to support our school at the PTO events last week. Both events, the Peter Piper Pizza Night and the Family Movie Night, were well attended and highly successful. The family events like these help to make lasting memories that allow us to reflect upon the joy and positive that our children experience in elementary school.

This week, we will be focused primarily on our academics without any school-wide field trips or programs planned. However, we do have a few events that you should take note of. On Tuesday, I will host our monthly Leader Lunch, which continues to be one of my favorite events. If your child is attending, ask them about our conversations, they tend to make me smile. Tuesday is also the day that Club Applications are due. We also have Kindergarten Round Up on Thursday. We will host 2 open-house style meetings with one being at 9:00 a.m. and the other being at 5:00 p.m. If you have a child that will attend kindergarten next year, or if you know someone that does, please encourage them to attend. As a reminder, this event is happening across the district at each school. Lastly, we have the District Math Fair on Friday where about 10 students from 5th grade will represent our school as they participate in carious mathematical tasks and activities.

This is our last week talking about the Mindset of PASSION FIRST. In particular this week, students will hear a message about why they should "be authentic." We encourage our students to dream and let them know that the dreams belong to the dreamer. The 7 Mindsets let us know that in order to accomplish something extraordinary, our dreams must leverage strengths, align with core values, and matter greatly. I would encourage you to talk with your children about the skills related to performance and persistence, which are also key ingredients in the fulfillment of dreams. Maybe even allow yourself to be vulnerable by sharing a setback or past regret that you have due to the fact that your actions did not embody the necessary characteristics previously listed. How would you have changed things, if you could have? More importantly, how can you change things for your children and how can you work together with them so they are set up to authentically live their passion?

Be well and have a great week!
