Mustang Families,

I hope that all of you had an enjoyable 3-day weekend. It was nice to have a break before the start of State Testing. As many of you know, we will begin our AzMERIT and AIMS Science testing this week for all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Please make sure that students continue to be well-rested and prepared for the test. Students should be at school on time and everyone will be provided breakfast in their classrooms before the testing begins. For some, this can be a time filled with anxiety as the testing can be stressful. Please rest assured that we have provided our students with all of the background knowledge necessary and that we will only be asking them to give their best effort. Stay positive and be encouraging so that we can be working together to diminish any test anxiety for our students.

This annual test simply provides students an opportunity to demonstrate all that they have learned to this point in the school year. As we look at the student data after testing, we realize that it provides us with some information about our teaching and learning, but we also realize that the test is one moment in time and does not give us a complete picture of everything that our students can do and everything they have become. We will not ignore any data and we will continue to use it so that we can make informed decisions, but we will also keep in mind that students and teachers are so much more than just one test score.

This week we will also begin to dissect our 7th and final mindset of the year...THE TIME IS NOW. In fact today, the students were encouraged to "embrace every moment" and find positivity in all experiences. We can use this idea to connect with what we do each day in school as things will not always be easy or perfect, but we will always have the opportunity and choice to find that silver lining. When we do triumph, we can celebrate those positive moments too!

We don't have any other big calendar events this week due to testing. Have a great week!
